Your analogy would have been better in comparison of some third world country (flamers grill) that has a democratic vote to decide a leader (Moderator):
Now there are suspicions that this vote was rigged, but there is no real way of proving it, so the leadership is awarded to the winning candidate. For all intents and purposes, despite opposition this leader then goes on to improve this third world nation and fulfil the role.
