Info: The defeat of the Russian Empire in World War I led to the seizure of power by the Communists and the formation of the USSR. The brutal rule of Josef STALIN (1924-53) strengthened Russian dominance of the Soviet Union at a cost of tens of millions of lives. The Soviet economy and society stagnated in the following decades until General Secretary Mikhail GORBACHEV (1985-91) introduced glasnost (openness) and perestroika (restructuring) in an attempt to modernize Communism, but his initiatives inadvertently released forces that by December 1991 splintered the USSR into 15 independent republics. Since then, Russia has struggled in its efforts to build a democratic political system and market economy to replace the strict social, political, and economic controls of the Communist period. A determined guerrilla conflict still plagues Russia in Chechnya.

Ground Units:

Т-90 Tank Unit: The T-90 is Russia’s latest and greatest tank. Like all Russian equipment it is reliable and heavily armed. (Cost: 15)

Т-80УМ1 Tank Unit: The T-80УМ1 is an upgraded T-80УМ with better amour, electronics and other systems. (Cost: 12)

Т-80УМ Tank Unit: The T-80УМ is a good tank in the Russian Army. Like all tanks it is good against enemy tanks and vehicles. (Cost: 8)

T-72БМ Tank Unit: The T-72БМ is an upgrade version of the famous T-72 tank. It has good armor and a good reliable engine. (Cost: 6)

T-64 Tank Unit: The T-64 is the oldest tank in Russian service. It is old but reliable and has a hard hitting gun. (Cost: 5)

БМП-3 Mechanized Infantry Unit: This unit is a basic infantry unit but these soldiers ride in БМП-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicles. Mechanized Infantry is good against enemy tanks and other vehicles. (Cost: 10)

БМП-2 Mechanized Infantry Unit: This is the same unit as above but these troops ride in the older БМП-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle. (Cost: 8)

БТР-80 Mechanized Infantry Unit: This unit is the same as the above two but these troops ride in the wheeled and less armored БТР-80 8x8 Infantry Vehicle. Mechanized Infantry are good for rapid attacks against enemy ground units. (Cost: 6)

БТР-70 Mechanized Infantry Unit: The БТР-70 is an older 8x8 armored infantry vehicle. (Cost: 5)

БМД-3 Mechanized Infantry Unit: The БМД-3 is a light weight infantry combat vehicle. It carries light weapons and cannon. (Cost: 7)

Motor Recon Unit: This unit is a recon unit that uses БРМД-2, БМД-3 and БТР-70 vehicles for recon work. Having recon units in your attacks can increase your chances of victory. (Cost: 5, is a recon unit)

Пехота Infantry Unit: This is the basic combat soldiers of the army. This unit has no vehicles to use in combat, only trucks to bring them to and from battlefields, during a battle they fight on foot. They are armed with assault rifles, grenades and light-machineguns. Foot infantry are good against anything but tanks and mechanized infantry. Infantry are very good at defending. (Cost: 3)

Airborne Infantry Unit: Airborne Infantry are the same as normal ‘Infantry Units’ but they can jump from IL-76 and An-22 transport planes to paradrop onto enemy units. Paratroopers have all the same advantages and disadvantages of normal infantry. (Cost: 8, can parajumps from Ил-76 and Ан-22 Transport Aircraft Units, can be carried in Ми-17 helicopter units)

Морская Пехота Naval Marine Infantry Unit: Морская Пехота are good infantry for attacking. This unit has landing vehicles (MT-LB landing vehicles) so they can assault enemy shores. While any unit can land in a landing on enemy beaches, Морская Пехота are the best for this type of operation. They are best used from Assault Landing Ships. (Cost: 8)

Naval Marine Support Unit: This unit contains Naval Marine artillery and PT-76 vehicles, along with more МТ-ЛБ landing tanks. A Naval Marine Support Unit when used with a Naval Marine Infantry Unit is a very deadly combo. The Naval Marine Support Unit is generally good against all units and this unit can land from assault landing ships. (Cost: 10)

БМП-3 Kornet Anti-Tank Unit: The БМП-3 Kornet is a converted БМП-3 that carries a anti-tank missile launcher on its roof. This unit is very good against tanks and other vehicles, but weak against everything else. (Cost: 7)

ЗСУ-23-4M1 Anti-Aircraft Unit: The ЗСУ-23-4M1 is a armored vehicle with 4 23mm anti-aircraft/helicopter cannons on it. It is good against enemy aircraft and helicopters. (Cost: 5)

SA-8 ‘Gecko’ Anti-Aircraft SAM Unit: The SA-8 is a 6x6 vehicle that carries the SA-8 ‘Gecko’ anti-aircraft missile. This unit is good against enemy aircraft and helicopters but it is weak when attacked. (Cost: 8)

SA-15 ‘Gauntlet’ Anti-Aircraft SAM Unit: The SA-15 ‘Gauntlet’ is a large armored vehicle that carries a anti-aircraft missile launcher on it. This unit is very good against enemy aircraft but has no ground defense. (Cost: 12)

Спецназ Commando Unit: Спецназ Commandos are elite special forces troops. They can do any of the missions listed under the ‘Special Forces’ rules in the INFO topic. (Cost: 14)

Towed Artillery Unit: Towed artillery are the standard truck-towed howitzers that many of you are common with. They are good against any ground unit at long range but they defeintly need to be protected as they are weak against any unit attacking them. (Cost: 3)

МСТА-С 2С19 Self-Propelled Artillery Unit: This unit is basically the same as the above unit but the 2С19 vehicle is a tracked and armored vehicle that carries a long range artillery gun inside it. (Cost: 8)

БМ-27 Self-Propelled Rocket Artillery Unit: The БМ-27 is a 8x8 heavy truck that carries a large rocket artillery launcher on it. Rockets are good against infantry and tanks. (Cost: 8)

БМ-30 "Смерч" Self-Propelled Rocket Artillery Unit: The BM-30 is larger than the БМ-27 and it uses a bigger 8x8 truck. It fires large 300mm rockets with good accuracy. Rockets are good against all ground units but weak when attacked. (Cost: 12)

Engineer Unit: Engineer units can greatly help offensive and defensive operations, a player should have engineer units with all of their major operations. Engineer units include trucks, bull-dozers, engineer-tanks and other specialized engineering vehicles. They can help build defenses and help clear enemy defenses. (Cost: 10)

МиГ-29С ‘Fulcrum’ Fighter Unit: The Mig-29С is the latest version of this famous fighter. It is a good all round anti-aircraft fighter. (Cost: 10)

Су-27 ‘Flanker’ Fighter Unit: The Су-27 is another newer Russian fighter. It only carries anti-aircraft weapons. The Flanker has very good maneuverability. (Cost: 12)

Су-37 ‘Super Flanker’ Fighter Unit: This is an upgraded version of the Су-27 fighter. It has better electronics but still only carries anti-aircraft weapons. This is one of the most maneuverable aircraft in the world. (Cost: 16)

Су-27K ‘Flanker’ Naval Fighter Unit: This unit is the same as the Су-27 but this Flanker can fly from carriers. (Cost: 14, can be based on carriers)

МиГ-31M ‘Foxhound’ Fighter Unit: The Mig-31 is an upgraded version of the famous МиГ-25. This large plane is old but very fast and can fly far. It carries only anti-aircraft weapons and is best for intercepting enemy planes. (Cost: 12)

МиГ-25 ‘Foxbat-E’ Fighter Unit: This is the famous ‘Foxbat’ high speed interceptor. This is the fastest fighter aircraft in the world but its electronics and weapons are old. (Cost: 10)

Су-22 ‘Fitter’ Attack Plane Unit: The Су-22 ‘Fitter’ is an older but still effective variable-wing sweep attack plane. It is rugged and hard-hitting. (Cost: 7)

Су-25БМ (Су-39) ‘Frogfoot’ Attack Plane Unit: The Су-25БМ is a small anti-ground plane with very good armor. (Cost: 8)

Су-25ТН ‘Frogfoot’ Naval Attack Plane Unit: This plane is the same as the one above but is modified for service on carriers. It can also carry anti-ship weapons along with its usual anti-ground weapons. (Cost: 11, can be based on carriers)

Су-24 ‘Fencer’ Attack Bomber Unit: The Су-24 is a tactical bomber that can carry a large anti-ground and anti-facility weapon load. (Cost: 14, can carry 1 ‘air dropped nuclear weapon load’)

МиГ-27 ‘Flogger-J’ Fighter/Attack Unit: The Flogger-J is an older but still effective fighter/attack plane. It carries both anti-ground and anti-air weapons. (Cost: 8)

Як-141 ‘Freestyle’ VTOL Naval Fighter/Attack Unit: The Як-141 is a VTOL fighter/attack plane that can be based on carriers and helicopter carriers. (Cost: 10, can be based on carriers and helicopter carriers)

Ту-22M ‘Backfire’ Strike Bomber/Anti-Ship Unit: The Ту-22M is a large bomber that is very good against enemy ground targets, enemy facilities and enemy ships. (Cost: 15)

Ту-95МС ‘Bear’ Strategic Bomber Unit: The Ту-95МС is a long range 4 engine turbo-prop bomber. This plane can fly far with a heavy bomb load to bomb enemy cities and facilities. (Cost: 16, can carry 1 ‘plane dropped nuclear weapon load’)

Ту-160 ‘Blackjack’ Strategic Bomber Unit: The Ту-160 is faster than the Ту-95MS and has better electronics. But it can’t carry as big of a bomb load. The Ту-160 is good against enemy ground units and facilities but has no anti-aircraft defense. (Cost: 24, can carry 1 ‘plane dropped nuclear weapon’)

Ту-142 ‘Bear-F’ Anti-Ship/Anti-Submarine Patrol Unit: This plane is a modified Ту-95 Bear bomber. But instead of bombs this plane carries torpedoes and depth charges to destroy enemy ships and submarines. This unit is very good at finding enemy submarines. (Cost: 15)

A-40 ‘Mainstay’ Early Warning Unit: The A-40 has a very powerful RADAR mounted on it. It can detect enemy aircraft from very far away. The A-40 has no weapons so it should probably be escorted by fighters. When a player has an Early Warning Aircraft Unit in a battle he gives his aircraft all a better chance of winning. (Cost: 16, can help friendly aircraft in a battle)

Ан-124 Air Transport Unit: The Ан-124 is a long range heavy transport plane. Each Ан-124 unit can carry 2 ground units. (Cost: 28, can carry 2 ground units)

Ан-22 Air Transport Unit: The AN-22 is an unarmed transport plane. (Cost: 10, can carry 1 ground unit)

Ил-76 Air Transport Unit: The Ил-76 is an unarmed transport plane. The Ил-76 is faster than the older Ан-22 and stands a better chance against enemy fighters. (Cost: 14, can carry 1 of any ground unit)

Ми-8 ‘Hip-E’ Assault Transport Helicopter Unit: The Mi-8E carries rocket pods and other light weapons. Each Mi-8E squadron can transport 1 Airborne Infantry Unit. (Cost: 6, can carry 1 Airborne Infantry Unit)

Ми-26 ‘Halo’ Transport Helicopter Unit: The Mi-26 is a large transport chopper that can carry 1 of any Infantry Unit. (Cost: 10, can carry 1 Infantry Unit of any type or the BMD-3 Mechanized Infantry Unit)

Ми-24 ‘Hind-F’ Attack Helicopter Unit: The Mi-24 ‘Hind-F’ is a heavily armored but old attack chopper. The Hind carries anti-tank missiles and rocket pods. It is good against any ground unit but has no anti-air weapons. (Cost: 8)

Ми-28 ‘Havoc’ Attack Helicopter Unit: The Mi-28 is a newer attack helicopter in the Russian airforce. It carries good anti-ground weapons but is defenseless against enemy air units. (Cost: 10)

Ka-50 ‘Hokum’ Attack Helicopter Unit: The Ka-50 is the latest attack helicopter in the Russian inventory. It carries good anti-ground weapons and is a good chopper. (Cost: 14)

Ka-27 ‘Helix-A’ Naval Anti-Submarine/Anti-Ship Helicopter Unit: The ‘Helix-A’ is a sub hunting chopper that can operate from carriers. (Cost: 8, can be based on carriers and helicopter carriers)

Ka-29 ‘Helix-B’ Naval Transport Helicopter Unit: The ‘Helix-B’ is a transport version of the above unit. It can operate off assault landing ships and it can carry 1 Infantry Unit. It carries light guns and rocket pods. (Cost: 10, can carry 1 Infantry Unit, can be based on carriers, helicopter carriers and assault landing ships that have helicopter capability)

Aerial Recon Unit: This unit has special Yak-061 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle scout planes and recon versions of the Mig-25 to greatly assist battlefield intelligence. The Yak-061 is a small remote-controlled plane that can scout ahead into enemy lines. Having an aerial recon unit in your operations greatly increases your chance for success. (Cost: 10)

’Киров’ Class Cruiser: The Киров is a massive ship. It carries heavy anti-ship and anti-air weapons. It is good as a fleet flagship or as a surface battle unit. (Cost: 35)

’Слава’ Class Missile Cruiser: The Слава Missile Cruiser is a big ship that carries big long range anti-ship missiles. It also has good anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 30)

’Неустрашимьй’ Class Frigate: This ship is a new Frigate class that carries good anti-submarine and anti-ship weapons. It is a good multi-role ship. (Cost: 15)

’Современний’ Class Destroyer: This ship is a good multipurpose ship that carries good anti-ship and anti-air weapons. (Cost: 22)

’Удалой’ Class Destroyer: This class is good for hunting enemy submarines, it carries good anti-submarine weapons and some anti-air weapons. (Cost: 19)

’Кара’ Class Destroyer: The ‘’Кара’ Class is good for hunting enemy submarines and defending other ships from enemy submarines. (Cost: 17)

’Кривак’ Class Frigate: The ’Кривак’ carries no anti-submarine weapons but is carries some good anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 14)

’Пархим’ Class Corvette: The ‘’Пархим’ class is Russia’s newest Corvette and has new electronics and advanced weapons. It is a good multi-purpose ship. (Cost: 13)

’Гриша’ Class Corvette: The ‘’Гриша’ is a good multi-purpose ship. This ship is good at chasing enemy submarines and protecting fleets from sub attack. (Cost: 12)

’Нанушка’ Class Corvette: The ‘Nanuchka’ class corvette is a good fast surface attack ship. It carries small anti-ship weapons and light anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 10)

‘Тарантул’ Class Missile Patrol Boat: The ‘Tarantul’ is a small ship that carries anti-ship missiles, this ship is intended for defensive operations. (Cost: 8)

’Оса’ Class Missile Patrol Boat: The ‘Оса’ is an older patrol boat design, even though its anti-ship missiles are old its still an effective ship. (Cost: 6)

’Светляк’ Class Patrol Boat: This ship is small and only armed with light anti-ship weapons. It is for patrol and guard work. (Cost: 5)

’Иван Рогов’ Class Assault Landing Ship: The Иван Рогов is a large assault landing ship. It can land troops on enemy beaches and it carries light anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 30, can carry 2 ground units and 1 Naval Helicopter Unit)

'Ropucha’ Class Landing Ship: The 'Ropucha’ class carries 1 ground unit. The 'Ropucha’ is used for landing on enemy beaches and it carries only light anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 25, can carry 1 ground unit)

’Polnocny’ Class Landing Ship: This ship carries no weapons but it still can land 1 ground unit. (Cost: 20, can carry 1 ground unit)

Transport Ship: The Transport Ship carries no weapons; it only carries 2 ground units. It can carry 2 ground units but only from one friendly harbor to another or to a beachhead that has been secured. (Cost: 14, carries 2 ground units)

Submarines:
(Note: If a submarine can carry nuclear weapons remember that it only has 1 ‘load’ and must reload that ‘weapons load’ after it has fired them off)

’Тайфун’ Class Nuclear Powered Missile Submarine: The Тайфун Class Submarine is massive (its the largest submarine in the world) and it carries 6 high-power nuclear missiles. Other than these missiles it only has a few torpedoes so it needs protection from enemy units. (Cost: 50, carries 6 high power nuclear missiles)

’Делта-IV’ Class Nuclear Powered Missile Submarine: The Делта-IV is older than the Typhoon but it can carry 4 high power nuclear missiles. Its power comes from nuclear reactors and it also carries torpedoes for attacking enemy ships and submarines. (Cost: 40, carries 4 high power nuclear missiles)

’Оскар-II’ Class Nuclear Powered Attack Submarine: The Оскар-II is a large attack submarine (it is the most heavily armed submarine in the world). It carries torpedoes to attack enemy ships and subs and it can fire large missiles to sink enemy ships. (Cost: 35)

’Акула-II’ Class Nuclear Powered Attack Submarine: The Акула-II is the main Russian attack submarine. It uses torpedoes to hunt enemy ships and submarines. (Cost: 30)

’Сиера-II Class Nuclear Powered Attack Submarine: The Сиера-II is an older attack submarine, but its still good against enemy ships and submarines. (Cost: 26)

’Виктор-III Class Nuclear Powered Attack Submarine: The Виктор-III is the oldest nuclear sub in Russian service but it is reliable and effective. It carries torpedoes for use against enemy subs and ships. (Cost: 20)

’Кило-II’ Class Diesel Powered Attack Submarine: The Кило-2 is a small diesel powered attack sub that carries torpedoes for use against enemy ships and subs. It is a good submarine for export as the Russians sell many to small nations. (Cost: 15)

Russian Invasion of Kazakhstan Turn 9

All forces are concentrated in one powerful arm - Spearhead are the two T-80UM1 modern tank units coordinated with the four BMP-3 units, the flanks are covered by the mass of 10 T-72BM tank unis and the 10 infantry units. Air support is provided by the four Su-39 ground-attack planes and the 3 MiG-29S fighters. The attack army strikes on the direction of Chelyabinsk - Petropavlovsk - Astana - the capital is expected to fall quickly. After that it is expected that resistance will be only sporadic and chaotic. Small infantry garrisons are to be left in the captured cities, the main armoured forces are to continue securing the western industrialized parts of the country, main target is the Baykonur cosmodrome.

The campaign should be easy. Terrain is open and suitable for the mass armoured force. Kazakh forces are poorly equipped and trained. Russia expects a swift outcome.

@IF: When i was checking the Russian unit list today i found a mistake

i forgot this unit for you:
