Info: Italy became a nation-state in 1861 when the city-states of the peninsula, along with Sardinia and Sicily, were united under King Victor EMMANUEL. An era of parliamentary government came to a close in the early 1920s when Benito MUSSOLINI established a Fascist dictatorship. His disastrous alliance with Nazi Germany led to Italy's defeat in World War II. A democratic republic replaced the monarchy in 1946 and economic revival followed. Italy was a charter member of NATO and the European Economic Community (EEC). It has been at the forefront of European economic and political unification, joining the European Monetary Union in 1999. Persistent problems include illegal immigration, the ravages of organized crime, corruption, high unemployment, and the low incomes and technical standards of southern Italy compared with the prosperous north

Ground Units:
Ariete C2 Tank Unit: The Ariete C2 is the latest tank in the Italian Army. It is very good against enemy tank and other ground units. (Cost: 16)
Ariete C1 Tank Unit: The Ariete C1 is a less expensive and less advanced version of the Ariete C2 Tank. All tanks are good against enemy ground units. (Cost: 14)
OF-40 Tank Unit: The OF-40 is the Italian Army’s main light tank. It has weaker armor and a weaker gun than the Ariete but it is still a good tank. Armored vehicles like this are useful in most tank roles expect when facing the latest MBTs. (Cost: 12)
B1 Centuaro Armored Vehicle Unit: The B1 Centuaro is a 8x8 wheeled tank. It is good against enemy ground units but weaker against enemy tanks. (Cost: 10)
Armored Recon Unit: The Armored Recon Unit uses . Fiat 6614 4x4 Armored Recon Cars, Puma 4x4 Armored Recon vehicles and Fiat VM 90 4x4 Recon Trucks. Having recon units in your attack will increase your chances of victory. (Cost: 6, is a recon unit)
VCC-80 Mechanized Infantry Unit: This unit is a normal infantry unit but these troops fight and ride in VCC-80 ‘Dardo’ armored infantry combat vehicles. Mechanized Infantry Units are good against all enemy ground units. (Cost: 12)
Centuaro Mechanized Infantry Unit: This is a version of the B1 Centuaro that doesn’t mount its powerful cannon but a smaller gun and can carry a unit of infantry. Mechanized infantry are good against most units expect enemy tanks and attack helicopters. (Cost: 10)
Puma Mechanized Infantry Unit: This unit uses wheeled and less armored Puma 6x6 and 4x4 Infantry Vehicles. Mechanized Infantry are good against all ground units but bad against air units. (Cost: 5)
VCC-1 Camillino Mechanized Infantry Unit: This unit is the same as the VCC-80 Mechanized. Infantry unit but these troops ride in the older, cheaper and less armored VCC-1 Infantry Vehicle. (Cost: 6)
VCC-1M Anti-Tank Unit: The VCC-1M is a modified version of the VCC-1 Infantry Vehicle. Instead of carrying troops this version carrying MILAN anti-tank missile launcher. This unit is good against tanks and other vehicles but nothing else. (Cost: 8)
Infantry Unit: This is the basic combat soldier unit of the army. This unit has no vehicles to use in combat, only trucks to bring them to and from battlefields, during a battle they fight on foot. They are armed with assault rifles, grenades and light-machineguns. Foot infantry are good against anything but tanks and mechanized infantry. Infantry are very good at defending. (Cost: 5)
Bersaglieri Infantry Unit: This unit is the same as the above unit but Bersaglieri troops are elite Italian assault troops. They are good against all ground units but tanks. (Cost: 10)
Paratrooper Infantry Unit: Paratroopers are infantry who can jump from G222 Air Transport Unit. Paratroopers are slightly better than normal infantry. Paras are good against enemy ground units. (Cost: 10, may be carried in the A109 Assault Helicopter Transport)
San Marco Marine Unit: San Marco Marines are elite amphibious assault infantry. They are better than normal infantry; this unit has VCC-1 APCs and other vehicles. (Cost: 10)
Incursori Commando Unit: The Incursori are some of the best special forces troops in the world. Incurisori Commandos may perform any of the commando operations listed under the ‘Special Forces Rules’ section of the INFO topic. (Cost: 14)
Towed Artillery Unit: Towed artillery are the standard truck-towed howitzers that many of you are common with. They are good against any ground unit at long range but they defeintly need to be protected as they are weak against any unit attacking them. (Cost: 5)
OTO-1 Self-Propelled Artillery Unit: The OTO-1 is a artillery gun mounted on an armored vehicle to make it travel faster and be protected. Artillery is good against any ground unit as long as it’s protected. (Cost: 8)
ASTROS II Self-Propelled Rocket Artillery Unit: The ‘ASTROS II’ vehicle is a 6x6 truck with a rocket artillery launcher mounted on the back of it. This unit is similar to the OTO-1 artillery unit but rockets are better against enemy infantry and tanks, but is still weak against any attacking force. (Cost: 8)
Otomatic-1 Anti-Aircraft Unit: The Otomatic-1 is a tracked vehicle that mounts a rapid fire 76mm anti-aircraft gun. The Otomatic-1 is good against enemy aircraft and helicopters. (Cost: 8)
SPADAS Anti-Aircraft SAM Unit: The SPADAS vehicle is a tracked vehicle that mounts twin SPADAS missile launchers. Its good against only aircraft and helicopters. (Cost: 12)
Engineer Unit: Engineer units can greatly help offensive and defensive operations, a player should have engineer units with all of their major operations. Engineer units include trucks, bull-dozers, engineer-tanks and other specialized engineering vehicles. They can help build defenses and help clear enemy defenses. (Cost: 10)
Air Units:
AMX-1 Fighter/Attack Unit: The AMX-1 is the Italian Airforce’s latest fighter. The AMX-1 has advanced electronics and carries good anti-ground and anti-aircraft weapons. It is smaller than most other fighters in its class but this gives it good maneuverability. (Cost: 12)
F-104S ‘Sparrviero’ Fighter Unit: The F-104S ‘Sparrviero’ is an Italian built version of the older American F-104 Fighter. The Italian version is more advanced and carries good anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 10, this unit may also carry 1 ‘plane dropped nuclear weapon’)
M.B.326K Attack/Fighter Unit: The M.B.326K isn’t as fast or advanced as the AMX but it is a very good low level anti-ground aircraft. It also carries anti-aircraft missiles. (Cost: 8)
M.B.339KN Naval Attack Unit: The M.B.339K is a carrier capable anti-ground and anti-ship low level attack plane. (Cost: 10, may be based on a carrier)
AMX-1N Naval Fighter Unit: The AMX-1N is a special naval version of the AMX-1 attack/fighter aircraft. It can only carry anti-aircraft weapons in this Naval version. (Cost: 14, may be based on a carrier)
Harrier II Naval VTOL Fighter/Attack Unit: The Harrier II is an advanced version of the Harrier made for use on ships. It can carry anti-ground, anti-aircraft and anti-ship weapons. (Cost: 10, can be based on carriers and helicopter carriers)
G.222 Air Transport Unit: The G.222 is a heavy transport aircraft. G.222 units may drop Paratrooper Infantry Units during air assaults. They may also carry any ground unit. (Cost: 10, may carry 1 of any ground unit)
G.222SV Airborne Early Warning Unit: The G.222SV is a special version of the G.222 transport that carries complex jamming and monitoring RADAR instead of troops or equipment. When a player has a Early Warning Aircraft Unit in a battle he gives his aircraft all a better chance of winning. (Cost: 16, can help friendly aircraft in a battle)
A109 Assault Transport Helicopter Unit: The A109 is a lightly armored and armed transport chopper. Each unit may transport 1 Paratrooper Infantry Unit. (Cost: 10, may carry 1 Paratrooper Infantry Unit)
A101 Transport Naval Helicopter Unit: The A101 is a new transport helicopter in Italian service. It can carry 1 Infantry type unit. (Cost: 8, may carry 1 Infantry Unit of any type, can be based on carriers and landing ships)
A129 ‘Mangusta’ Attack Helicopter Unit: The A129 is a anti-ground attack helicopter. It carries anti-tank missiles and anti-ground rockets. (Cost: 12)
A412 Transport Helicopter Unit: The AB412 is a larger version of the AB212. This is a much upgraded variant of the American UH-1. This helicopter has no weapons but can carry more soldiers than any other Italian helicopter. (Cost: 10, can carry 1 infantry unit of any type)
AB 212 Naval Anti-Ship/Anti-Submarine Helicopter Unit: The AB 212 is an upgraded version of the famous American ‘Huey’ helicopter. The AB 212 carries anti-ship missiles and anti-submarine weapons. (Cost: 12, may be based on carriers)
Aerial Recon Unit: This unit has special Unmanned Aerial Vehicle scout planes and recon versions of the F-104 to greatly assist battlefield intelligence. The UAV is a small remote-controlled plane that can scout ahead into enemy lines. Having an aerial recon unit in your operations greatly increases your chance for success. (Cost: 12)
G.222 Air-Refueling Unit: This unit is a special unarmed aircraft that can refuel other aircraft mid-air. Each air-refueling unit can support up to 5 air units in a single strike/operation. They give these units unlimited range but the air-refueling unit must be in the air during the entire operation and it is vulnerable to enemy attack. (Cost: 20, is air-refueling unit)

’Giuseppe Garibaldi’ Class Carrier: The Giuseppe Garibaldi Carriers have gas turbine engines but they are still large ships. Each carrier has limited anti-aircraft weapons but can carry 2 Naval Aircraft or 2 Naval Helicopter Units. (Cost: 36, can carry 2 Naval Helicopter or Naval VTOL Aircraft Units)
’ Vittorio Veneto’ Class Helicopter Cruiser: The Vittorio Veneto is a special cruiser than can also carry 1 Naval Helicopter unit. This ship has powerful anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 30, can carry 1 Naval Helicopter Unit)
’Durand de la Penne’ Class Destroyer: The Durand de la Penne is a powerful new surface ship. It carries good anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. Destroyers are good capital ships that are useful against most targets. (Cost: 26)
’Audace’ Class Destroyer: The Audace class is older than the ‘le Penne but it carries better anti-submarine weapons. (Cost: 22)
’Artigliere’ Class Frigate: The ‘Artigliere’ class Frigate is Italy’s newest Frigate. It carries advanced anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 20)
’Maestrale’ Class Frigate: The Maestrale is a handy multipurpose ship. It carries good anti-aircraft and anti-submarine weapons. (Cost: 18)

’Cigala Fulgosi’ Class Corvette: This ship is the newest patrol vessel in the Italian Fleet. It is fast and has some stealth systems. It carries good anti-ship and anti-submarine weapons. (Cost: 15)
’Minerva’ Class Patrol Corvette: The Minerva class is a small corvette patrol vessel. It carries good anti-aircraft and anti-ship weapons. (Cost: 12)
’Cassiopea’ Class Patrol Boat: The Cassiopea class is a small coastal patrol boat that carries only light anti-ship weapons. (Cost : 8)

S-300 Anti-Aircraft SAM Unit: The S-300 is a large anti-aircraft missile system mounted on the rear of a large 8x8 trailer towed by a 4x4 tractor truck. This is a new system that has long-high (long range, high altitude) capabilities. This system is good against all aircraft. (Cost: 12)
Eurofighter-I Fighter unit: The Eurofighter-I is the newest plane in the Italian airforce. It has the most recent Anti-air weapons and electronics for amazing speed and excellent RADAR, not to mention some of the greatest menuverability. This version of the Eurofighter has no anti-ground weapons. (Cost:20)
’Arleigh Burke’ Class Missile Destroyer: The Arleigh Burke Class Missile Destroyer uses the advanced AEGIS missile system. The Arleigh Burke Destroyer is good against all units but ground units. (Cost: 30)
Ariete C3 tank unit: This is the newest tank in the Italian military, and is the best defensive tank in the world. Heavily armored and with the latest tank technology this tank is good in high-elevation defence and mounts an excellent gun. (Cost:20 Credits)
