How do you feel about listening to music with lyrics you don't understand? I know some people really detest it, but I don't mind it at all.
I often look up translations for foreign lyrics, such as with Rammstein... I know the meaning of most of their songs by heart. However, I really don't mind not knowing what's being said, such as with the band Lacrimosa... I only pick up bits and pieces of their German, but their singing is so powerful and emotional that I don't need to know every word. The same goes for Therion, whose opera-style vocals are nearly impossible to understand, regardless of which of the 3 languages they speak they happen to use in a particular song.

I've been told listening to a song you know in a foreign language helps with learning that foreign language if you're trying to. IE: Get a song you know and listen to the translated version (if there is). Im planning on that if i start having trouble with French when Im in Belgium.

I love music in foreign languages....For a bunch of reasons. It's interesting, and it gives for something to do when you want to know what they're saying, you can learn how to say some stuff if you listen to it. It can have as muuch bad language in it as possible, and you can still listen to it in public without offending people ...Most of the time, it sounds incredible...There are more reasons, but it's early, and I can't think. But here are bands that I frequently listen to.
Nightwish (I don't think that they have many songs in their native language, but they are still considered finlandish..) Megaherz Lacrimosa (Thanks to Brady.) Therion (Also thanks to Brady.) Rammstein
Hrm...I think that's it...Unfortunately. [ 06 August 2003, 00:40: Message edited by: Creatrix ]
