Leader: President Tariq Al-Botto
Info: Formerly part of the Ottoman Empire, Iraq became an independent kingdom in 1932. A "republic" was proclaimed in 1958, but in actuality a series of military strongmen have ruled the country since then, the latest being SADDAM Husayn. Territorial disputes with Iran led to an inconclusive and costly eight-year war (1980-88). In August 1990 Iraq seized Kuwait, but was expelled by US-led, UN coalition forces during January-February 1991. The victors did not occupy Iraq, however, thus allowing the regime to stay in control. Following Kuwait's liberation, the UN Security Council (UNSC) required Iraq to scrap all weapons of mass destruction and long-range missiles and to allow UN verification inspections. UN trade sanctions remain in effect due to incomplete Iraqi compliance with relevant UNSC resolutions. In 2003 SADDAM was exiled and young former-general Tariq AL-BOTTO took control of this nation.

Ground Units:
Assad Babyl Tank Unit: The Assad Babyl is Iraqi’s own tank design. It is armed with a powerful gun and has good amour. (Cost: 10)
M-84A Tank Unit: The M-84A is a tank designed in Yugoslavia that Iraq builds. It is cheap and effective. (Cost: 8)
T-72M1 Tank Unit: The T-72M1 is an upgraded version of the Russian built T-72 tank. The T-72M1 has good amour and is cheap. (Cost: 6)
T-62 Tank Unit: The T-62 is an old Russian designed tank. It is cheap and effective in mass assaults. (Cost: 5)
VCR-TT Anti-Tank Unit: The VCR-TT is a 4x4 armored vehicle that carries a HOT Anti-tank missile launcher on its roof. (Cost: 5)
Infantry Unit: This is the basic combat soldiers of the army. This unit has no vehicles to use in combat, only trucks to bring them to and from battlefields, during a battle they fight on foot. They are armed with assault rifles, grenades and light-machineguns. Foot infantry are good against anything but tanks and mechanized infantry. Infantry are very good at defending. (Cost: 2)
Republican Guard Unit: Iraqi’s Republican Guard are elite assault infantry who are well-trained, highly motivated and very loyal. They can act as normal infantry but have many combat bonuses. Like all infantry they are weak against tanks but good at defending. (Cost: 8)
BMP-1A Mechanized Infantry Unit: Mechanized Infantry are regular Infantry troops who ride and fight in armored infantry vehicles. This unit uses the BMP-1A tracked infantry carrier. Mechanized Infantry are good against all ground units expect tanks. (Cost: 7)
OT-62 Mechanized Infantry Unit: Mechanized Infantry are regular Infantry troops who ride and fight in armored infantry vehicles. This unit uses the OT-62 wheeled infantry carrier. Mechanized Infantry are good against all ground units expect tanks. (Cost: 5)
BTR-60 Mechanized Infantry Unit: Mechanized Infantry are regular Infantry troops who ride and fight in armored infantry vehicles. This unit uses the BTR-60 infantry carrier. Mechanized Infantry are good against all ground units expect tanks. (Cost: 6)
Airborne Infantry Unit: Airborne Infantry are the same as normal ‘Infantry Units’ but they can jump from An-12 transport planes to paradrop onto enemy units. Paratroopers have all the same advantages and disadvantages of normal infantry. (Cost: 7, can parajumps from An-12 Transport Aircraft Units, can be carried in Mi-17 helicopter units)
ZSU-23-4 Anti-Aircraft Unit: The ZSU-23-4 is a armored vehicle with 4 23mm anti-aircraft/helicopter cannons on it. It is good against low flying enemy aircraft and helicopters. (Cost: 6)
Strela-10 Anti-Aircraft Missile Unit: The Strela-10 is a tracked armored vehicle that mounts a anti-aircraft missile launcher on its roof. This unit is good against all air units. (Cost: 9)
Towed Artillery Unit: Towed artillery are the standard truck-towed howitzers that many of you are common with. They are good against any ground unit at long range but they defeintly need to be protected as they are weak against any unit attacking them. (Cost: 3)
AUF-1 Self-Propelled Artillery Unit: This unit is basically the same as the above unit but the AUF-1 vehicle is a tracked and armored vehicle that carries a long range artillery gun inside it. (Cost: 8)
Sujil-40 Self-Propelled Rocket Artillery Unit: The Sujil-40 is a 6x6 heavy truck that carries a large rocket artillery launcher on it. Rockets are good against infantry and tanks. (Cost: 10)
Commando Unit: Commandos are elite special forces troops. They can do any of the missions listed under the ‘Special Forces’ rules in the INFO topic. (Cost: 15)
Engineer Unit: Engineer units can greatly help offensive and defensive operations, a player should have engineer units with all of their major operations. Engineer units include trucks, bull-dozers, engineer-tanks and other specialized engineering vehicles. They can help build defenses and help clear enemy defenses. (Cost: 10)

Mig-29 Fighter Unit: The Mig-29 is an advanced Russian designed fighter, it has manuerable and carries good anti-air weapons. (Cost: 10)
Mig-23 Attack/Fighter Unit: The Mig-23 carries anti-ground and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 8)
Mirage F1 Fighter Unit: The Mirage F1 is designed in France and built in Iraq. It is fast and carries advanced anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 8)
Su-20 Attack/Fighter Unit: The Su-20 carries anti-ground missiles and rockets along with some anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 6)
Mig-21 Fighter Unit: The Mig-21 is an older fighter designed in Russia but built in Iraq for the Iraqi airforce. It carries anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 6)
Tu-22 Strike Bomber Unit: The Tu-22 is a old Russian bomber design. It can carry a large load of bombs, far and fast. (Cost: 15, can carry 1 ‘plane dropped nuclear weapons load’)
An-12 Air Transport Unit: The An-12 is a large transport aircraft. (Cost: 13, can carry 1 ground unit)
Mi-24 Attack Helicopter Unit: The Mi-24 Hind is used by Iraq. It carries anti-tank and anti-ground weapons. (Cost: 8)
Mi-17 Helicopter Transport Unit: The Mi-17 can carry 1 infantry unit of any type. It is armed with only light weapons. (Cost: 10, can carry 1 infantry unit)
A-40 ‘Adan’ Early Warning Unit: The A-40 has a very powerful RADAR mounted on it. It can detect enemy aircraft from very far away. The A-40 has no weapons so it should probably be escorted by fighters. When a player has an Early Warning Aircraft Unit in a battle he gives his aircraft all a better chance of winning. (Cost: 16, can help friendly aircraft in a battle)
Il-20 Anti-Ship/Anti-Submarine Patrol Unit: The Il-20 is an old anti-ship/anti-submarine aircraft but it performs it’s job effectively. It carries torpedoes and depth charges. (Cost: 12)
Aerial Recon Unit: This unit has special Mi-2 recon helicopters and recon versions of the Mig-25 to greatly assist battlefield intelligence. Having an aerial recon unit in your operations greatly increases your chance for success. (Cost: 10)
Naval Units:
’Kara’ Class Destroyer: The ‘Kara’ Class is good for hunting enemy submarines and defending other ships from enemy submarines. (Cost: 18)
’Krivak’ Class Frigate: The Krivak carries no anti-submarine weapons but is carries some good anti-ship and anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 14)
‘Tarantul’ Class Missile Patrol Boat: The ‘Tarantul’ is a small ship that carries anti-ship missiles, this ship is intended for defensive operations. (Cost: 6)
'Hengam’ Class Landing Ship: The 'Hengam’ class carries 1 ground unit. The 'Hengam’ is used for landing on enemy beaches and it carries only light anti-aircraft weapons. (Cost: 20, can carry 1 ground unit)
Transport Ship: The Transport Ship carries no weapons; it only carries 2 ground units. It can carry 2 ground units but only from one friendly harbor to another or to a beachhead that has been secured. (Cost: 14, carries 2 ground units)

’Kilo’ Class Diesel Powered Attack Submarine: The Kilo is a small diesel powered attack sub that carries torpedoes for use against enemy ships and subs. (Cost: 13)

Glory be to Allah! Most merciful and most gracious!
Today in Iraq, President Al-Botto headed a large parade of our troops. He spoke to them saying "You are our greatest hope, our lions of babylon, our sons of islam and the sword which will run through our enemies"
He then preceded to a parade of children who showed their artistic talents and love for their nation by singing songs and dancing traditional Iraqi dances they had learned in their school. Al-Botto promises many civic-works projects and many new schools, universities, libaries, hospitals and public-water systems to be established, he also vowed to bring electricity to all of Iraq's major cities and towns once more.
-Issue 2 (Turn 1)
Glory be to Allah! Most merciful and most gracious!
Today Al-Botto raised 4 new army groups to defend our homeland and two new air-attack squadrons to defend our cities. These new soldiers and airmen were sworn in today in a large ceremonemy attended by President Al-Botto. He spoke today and said "Within the coming months we will raise several more army groups and equip our soldiers with the finest weapons, Allah is great"

we got told you couldnt buy trade units until the ftc was completed?
"These units may ONLY be built once a trade agreement with another nation (player or non-player) has been signed and a Foreign Trade Facility has been built in both your nations!"
